Well done to both Ladies 1 and Mixed 3 over the weekend on fantastic games. Unfortunately Mixed 3 while fought hard came down to the last mixed but unfortunately was not to be. You'll get them in the league!!! (or tonight in Portmarnock - good luck)

But there was some good news -

Congratulations to Ladies 1 - Aine, Debbie, Anita and Samantha who won their semifinal Ladies Div 3 against Old School - great result (even if I am biased).

We would love if as many of you can come cheer us on in Whitehall Road this Friday at 7pm against KADCA in the final.

Letter to Members
Well its that time of year again and time to dust off the rackets as the Aer Lingus Badminton Club season starts Monday, 22nd August at 8pm. The following are the committee for the 2011/2012 season, Debbie Kivlehan (Chair), Deirdre Hannaford (Secretary), Stephen O’Callaghan (Treasurer), Anne Dalton (Club Captain), Breda Connolly (Match Secretary), Justin McCarthy, Sean Murphy and Korneliusz Ojrzynski. I would also like to thank the outgoing members Billy and Enda for all the work they did over the year and wish Enda well in his travels.

The fee for the coming season remains at €160. Shuttles are our still the most expensive outgoing and this cost is only expected to rise. We would encourage all members to please be mindful of the shuttles during club play as best you can.

Please see attached Application Form for completion. It is important that all details are completed for insurance purposes. The final date for receipt of completed Application Forms is Monday 12th September. If you wish to play on a team for the coming season your application must be in by that date. Please give your completed Form to Stephen/Debbie or any other committee member in their absence. Team Selectors will be meeting and selecting from opening night so please ensure that you come up to club to ensure your place. The Selection Committee for 2011/2012 season Aine, Joan, Ann D, Justin and Paul.

Peg Board details will be forwarded in September. Please note that it is very important that you check this list and ensure you are available on the night. It is up to each club member to get a substitute to cover the board if unavailable. It has been noted that not all club members assist in setting up/or taking down. It is the responsibility of all members to help out the person on duty with setting up and taking down of nets, clearing up shuttles, etc. Remember you will be on duty some night and may like the help.

Note for your diary: The Ann Callaly Perpetual Trophy tournament will be held over the coming months. We would encourage all to play and get the season off to an encouraging start.

Please checkout our website www.aerlingusbadminton.com. If have any suggestions, issues or requests please contact us on aerlingusbadminton@gmail.com. If you know of any ex-Badminton Players who wish to return to the game, get them to check out our website also. Also checkout www.alsaa.ie for the ALSAA lotto. If you play 25% goes to the nominated club so please select Badminton Senior Club – every little helps and you could be lucky.

The success of the club is a reflection of its dedicated members. Fun is the most important game in town and winning a few trophies along the way helps.
