The 2009-2010 League season has now come to an very successful end for Aer Lingus Badminton.

WINNERS LEAGUE 2009-2010 - Congratulations to the Mens 1 Divsion 3 Winners Billy, Declan, Enda and Paul - Fantastic game against Ailesbury and deserving winners on the night.
DOUBLE CUP AND LEAGUE WINNERS 2009-2010 - Congratulations to the Mens 5B Division 8 Winners Sean M, Ron, John Mc and Micheal O'L - Great fighting match against Raheny.
Looking forward to seeing you in higher divisions next year but doing same again!!

RUNNERS UP LEAGUE 2009-2010 - Congratulations to Runners UP Mixed 1 Divsion 3 who lost to Kildalkey on the night but fanstatic games had by all.
Thanks to the supporters that turned out for all the games, it was appreciated by all teams.
Don't forget our End of Season starts this thursday (Singles - depending on interest) Please get all forms in asap.

See application form for end of season tournament. Many years ago this was an annual event which concluded the season on a high note. It has been delayed somewhat due the the fantastic amount of teams who have reached the semi's and now the finals from tonight = don't forget to support where you can.
Depending on uptake we hope to run singles, doubles and mixed tournament over the next 3-4 weeks. This will be a handicapped/graded tournament based on current team ranking or level of play if not playing league. Cost is €5 per event or for 3 - €10, to cover costs of shuttles and prizes.
This is a fun event for all members, with edge of competitiveness especially in the singles. To get this started, please have your application sent by either email or give on Monday to committee members as we hope to start singles next thursday if at all possible. Applications for doubles can be submitted within the next two weeks as will start Monday10th.
This is your club so please try and support, and end the season on a fun and enjoyable note.

Hard luck to Ladies 1 who were beaten in semi-finals on Saturday by KADCA.
Well done to all teams who have reached the finals this week. See attached details of all matches on thursday, Friday and Saturday in Baldoyle at 7pm. Please note that all teams should be in Baldoyle and registered at least 20 minutes prior to start time.
This is a fantastic achievment and we hope to see a great number of supporters on the nights and hopefully a few celebrations in the bar at presentations afterwards.

Commiserations to Mixed 4 (Mary B, Patty, Brenda, Breda, Alan, Gary, Simon and Bernd), who made a valiant effort against a very strong St Judes however it was just not to be on the night.
Congratulations to Mixed 1 (Billy, Enda, Aine and Debbie) on a thrilling semi-final win over Mount Pleasant. Went down to the wire ending in a draw on matches and then sets but winning out by 9 points in the end. Keep the 24th April free around 6:30pm for final against Kildalkey.
Remember 4 teams in doubles semi-finals tomorrow starting at 5pm.
Thanks again to all the supporters and hope some can make tomorrow.

Dates for the Diary - we have been notified that the Air Canada Tournament will take place in Barcelona Friday/Saturday 1/2 October 2010. See extract from email
Welcome evening is on Thursday, 30th September and we play on Friday, 1st & Saturday 2nd October. The hotel chosen is located on the beach close to the Olympic Port with easy access to the city. We will send out the poster with the prices in the very near future.
We have no details on prices for hotels etc but if would like to book your flights feel free. Play is usually Singles and Doubles on the Friday and Mixed Event on the Saturday (you will be mixed on teams with other airlines).
Can you please let the committee know if your going for registration. Any questions feel free to ask member of committee. Will forward details when available.

A great night's badminton last night in Baldoyle, Qtr final Division 3 - Mixed 1 v Mixed 2. Congratulations to Mixed 1 who won out in the end. It was also great to see a large number of supporters, thanks was really appreciated by both teams.
Please note that we have 6 teams in the semi-finals, which is a great achievement - 2 teams this Thursday at 6:30 and 8:30pm, 4 team on Saturday. 3 at 5pm and 1 at 7pm.
Please note the change of time for Mens 5a which is now at 5pm (not 8:30pm as previous).

Congratulations to Mixed 4 who are through to semi-final next thursday 15th in Baldoyle after playing a tight match against Rathfarnham Parish last night in Whitehall Road.
We won 4:3 with wins for 2nd Mens and 2nd Ladies, 2nd and 3rd Mixed (which had all stomach in knots - great comeback by Gary and Patty in 3rd set). Last mixed did not have to be played as we had already won on sets.
Congrats to Breda, Brenda, Mary B, Patty, Alan, Gary, Bernd and Simon.

Well done to all teams that have reached the quarter final stages. I would ask all members to try and get to at least one of these games to give you support to your fellow members on their achievement. Hearing the support from the wings can really change to the dynamic of the game.

As we mentioned in Glasgow last October this year's tournament would hopefully be in Barcelona. Barcelona it is, and plans are well advanced and we felt everyone should have the dates as soon as possible whilst we finalise the costings.

Anyone fancy Badminton in Barbados starting 1st September 2010. Please see attached details of itinerary, price, etc. There are two options in relation to booking
1) Flights (direct from Gatwick), accomodation and tournament £864.stg
2) Accommodation and tournament £399stg
The committee feel our best option would be to book members flights seperately as amount quoted is from Gatwick only and is a very early start so same day connection may not be possible. We will come back on this when we have greater idea of numbers.
The Hotel is Coconut Court Beach resort hotel.
We will be taking registration details and deposit of Stg £150 by 22nd March. Please talk to one of the committee members if your interested.
This would be an ideal holiday destination with a few days badminton thrown in. Places are limited overall so the sooner we register the better. Details will be on notice board next week.

Well done to Sean M, Ron, John Mc and Micheal Mc who done both themselves and club proud in a very impressive win over Donoughmore last night in Whitehall Road. 1st game won in two by Sean and Ron, 2nd won in two by John and Micheal and set got in 3rd by Sean and Ron to win the match.
Unfortunately there was a poor turnout of support from the club but thanks to the small number who did and the guys families/friends who came out in large numbers.
Well done to the lads and hope you can continue the success in the league.

On Saturday 12th December, the will be a Christmas "gathering" in the Cock Tavern, Swords 8pm til late. for craic agus ceoil. Hope to see as many of you there as possible.
